Who are at higher risk of serious flu related complications?

Even though it seems not to be very threatening, there is a lot of concern about the H1N1 flu. The adminstration and the medical community are working hard to contain the flu and spread the information about preventing it. The parents on the other hand are getting more and more confused. Why?

Who are at higher risk of serious flu related complications?

Some people are at high risk of serious flu related complications. They are:
1. Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old.
2. People 65 and older
3. Pregnant women
4. People who have
- Cancer,
- Blood disorder (including sickle cell disease)
- Chronic lung disease (including asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD)
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Kidney disorders
- Liver disorders
- Neurological disorders (including nervous system, brain or spinal cord).
- Neuromuscular disorders (including muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis)
- Weakened immune systems (including people with AIDS)
