If say I got diphtheria once, do I still need the diphtheria vaccine? Will I not get immunity the natural way?

You may not. I read somewhere on this site that diphtheria disease may not make you immune to it. The best way to prevent it from getting it again is to get the diphtheria vaccine while recovering!
